Organic cocoa powder** Bursting with flavor, antioxidants and essential nutrients, cocoa powder is the main ingredient in chocolate products and is used in a wide variety of recipes around the globe. Cocoa powder is derived from the crushed, fermented beans of the Theobroma cacao tree. During processing, cocoa butter, or fat, is removed from the cacao beans, leaving only pure cocoa, which is then finely ground into a powder. According to a study that appeared in the journal Frontiers in Pharmacology, cocoa powder contains high levels of antioxidant flavonoids and polyphenols. In fact, experts believe cocoa products have the highest flavonoid content by weight of any food. The potent antioxidants in cocoa powder can help protect against oxidative stress and support healthy immune, cognitive, digestive and cardiovascular functions. Organic maca root powder** Maca root powder is derived from the fleshy, radish-like taproot of the Lepidium meyenii plant. This yellow cruciferous vegetable possesses potent adaptogenic properties and boasts an impressive phytonutrient profile. According to a 2014 study published in the journal Carbohydrate Polymers, the polysaccharides in maca root extract exhibit high antioxidant activity. Loaded with over 60 micronutrients, maca root also contains a variety of antioxidants, such as phenols, alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, glycosides and vitamins C and E. Consuming maca is a great way to support your body's natural production of antioxidants such as glutathione and superoxide dismutase (SOD). Because of its potent antioxidant and adaptogenic properties, maca root powder helps support a healthy immune system. Organic reishi mushroom powder** One of the world's most popular functional mushrooms, the reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum) is also known as "the mushroom of immortality" because of its ability to support the health of numerous biological systems. This functional mushroom owes its many health benefits to a wide variety of bioactive components, which include beta-glucans, amino acids, lipids, triterpenes, terpenoids, polysaccharides, phenols, plant sterols, dietary fiber, copper, zinc, iron, manganese, selenium and vitamins B2 and C. The reishi mushroom also possesses potent adaptogenic properties that can support a healthy stress response. Organic chaga mushroom powder** A nutrient-dense functional mushroom, the chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus) is one of the best natural sources of potent antioxidants, such as tripertenes and polyphenols. In fact, it boasts one of the highest Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) scores of any superfood. The chaga mushroom is also loaded with essential nutrients, such as selenium, zinc, manganese, iron, copper, vitamin D and B vitamins. According to a study published in the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine, supplementing with chaga mushrooms is an excellent way to support good overall health. Organic cordyceps mushroom powder** A staple in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the cordyceps mushroom (Cordyceps militaris) is widely known for its ability to support healthy energy levels, as well as optimal athletic performance and stamina. It is also loaded with powerful antioxidants that can help protect against oxidative stress and support optimal overall health. A study published in the Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology found that the cordyceps mushroom owes its potent antioxidant and immune-supporting properties to its high levels of polysaccharides and the nucleoside, cordycepin. The cordyceps mushroom also contains a wide variety of vitamins and enzymes that can support the healthy functions of your skin, heart, liver and kidneys. Organic turkey tail mushroom powder**   The turkey tail mushroom (Coriolus versicolor) is a leaf-like fungus that gets its name from its vibrantly colored, wavy, rosette shape that resembles the fully unfurled tail of a wild turkey. It is widely used in TCM for its ability to support healthy immune and digestive functions. A study that appeared in the Journal of Enzyme Inhibition and Medicinal Chemistry reported that the turkey tail mushroom contains over 35 different phenolic compounds and antioxidants that contribute to its immune-supporting properties. The turkey tail mushroom is also rich in copper, zinc, manganese, flavonoids, phenols and beneficial polysaccharopeptides, such as krestin. Organic lion's mane mushroom powder** With its white, dangling spines, the lion's mane mushroom (Hericium erinaceus) gets its name from its unique appearance, which resembles the shaggy mane of a white lion. Another staple in TCM, this functional mushroom is naturally abundant in polysaccharides and contains at least 32 bioactive compounds known to support the healthy functions of your heart, brain and digestive system. According to a study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, the lion's mane mushroom can naturally uplift your mood and support healthy energy levels. A separate study that appeared in the journal Food & Function reported that this functional mushroom can also support healthy immune function. Organic maitake mushroom powder** Also known as "dancing mushroom," the maitake mushroom (Grifola frondosa) is an excellent source of copper, potassium, iron, phosphorus, manganese, selenium, zinc, folate, niacin, vitamin D and other nutrients. This functional mushroom is also naturally abundant in dietary fiber, which supports healthy digestive function. A study that appeared in the journal Biological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin found that the maitake mushroom contains a polysaccharide called grifolan, which can support healthy immune function. This mushroom's high levels of beta-glucan and other antioxidants also help provide additional immune support. Furthermore, the maitake mushroom possesses potent adaptogenic properties, which support a healthy stress response. Organic shiitake mushroom powder** Also known as "oakwood mushroom" or "black mushroom," the shiitake mushroom (Lentinula edodes) is one of the world's most popular edible mushrooms. In fact, this functional mushroom makes up more than a quarter of all mushroom cultivation on the planet. It is highly prized for its diverse health benefits, as well as its rich, earthy flavor. The shiitake mushroom is packed with polysaccharides, phenols, diterpenoids, alkaloids, sterols and other potent antioxidants. It also contains a unique polysaccharide called lentinan, which supports healthy immune function. Low-glycemic organic coconut sugar** Our premium organic cocoa blend is slightly sweetened with organic coconut sugar, one of the healthiest natural alternatives to regular sugar.
