Organic Bloody Butcher Cornmeal

Limited availability — milled to order while supplies last. The cornbread of your dreams starts here. This isn't your average cornmeal, it's a taste of Appalachian history with a flavor that'll make you wonder why you ever settled for anything else. One whiff of the nutty, toasted aroma when you open the bag and you'll understand what real cornmeal is supposed to smell like. Bake it into skillet cornbread and watch those distinctive red flecks create a rustic, speckled crumb with a texture that's tender yet substantial, the kind that holds up to a pat of butter or a drizzle of honey without falling apart. What Makes It Special Heirloom variety dating back to the 1800s when Appalachian settlers depended on this hardy corn to get them through mountain winters. The dramatic name? Those striking dark red speckles on white kernels that look like (you guessed it) blood on a butcher's apron. Stone ground fresh when you order at a small organic farm in Illinois, keeping the nutrient-rich germ intact, the part that gives you superior flavor and nutrition but makes commercial mills remove it for longer shelf life. We choose taste over convenience every time. Non-GMO and open-pollinated, this ancient grain connects you to generations of farmers who saved seeds and grew food the right way, supporting biodiversity and agricultural wisdom that deserves to be preserved. Kitchen Notes Store in the refrigerator immediately to maintain farm-freshness. Because this whole kernel cornmeal includes the germ, it's more perishable than supermarket versions, a small price for exponentially better flavor. Milled in a facility that also processes wheat and soy. Not appropriate for gluten allergies.
