This is a beer making kit just about anyone can pull off. This Ordinary Bitter recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Ordinary Bitter, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass. Ordinary bitter is the everyday pint of the English pub, the lightest of the bitters and, at well under 4 percent, built for drinking a few without ceremony. Despite the name it is not aggressively bitter; "bitter" simply set it apart from the sweeter milds of its day. What you get is biscuit and light caramel malt, a gentle earthy hop, and a dry, moreish finish. It shows best from a cask at cellar temperature, soft and low in carbonation, which is the setting the English session tradition grew up in. A beer this modest was always meant to be poured fresh, so plan on drinking it young. What's In The KitYour Ordinary Bitter recipe kit includes everything below, portioned and ready to brew.
