Orange, Bitter Citrus aurantium Origin: Brazil Part Used: Rind Extraction Method: Cold pressed Aromatic Notes: Fruity, fresh and sweet citrusy notes tempered by a bitter undertone Uses and Insights: Bitter Orange has properties similar to other types of Orange and citrus oils, although it is a little less bright and more grounded of a scent. Having deeper layers to its aromatic profile, Bitter Orange is well suited to more complex aesthetic blends. This oil is cold pressed from the fruit’s peel, while Neroli essential oil comes from the flowers of the Bitter Orange tree and Petitgrain comes from its leaves and twigs. Bitter Orange blends well with either of these oils as well as Lavender, Geranium, Cedarwood, Patchouli and other citruses.
