Opus One 2022

Opus One 2022: A Triumph of Timing and Terroir Experience the harmony of Napa Valley precision and Bordeaux elegance. Nestor Liquor, your preferred partner for iconic and collectible wines, is honored to present Opus One 2022. This vintage is a testament to the skill and decisiveness of the Opus One vineyard team, capturing a "sunny, perfumed" profile that balances ripe generosity with the estate's signature finesse. Born from a dynamic vintage defined by an early September heatwave, the 2022 harvest demanded precision. By picking early—starting in late August—winemaker Michael Silacci preserved remarkable freshness and acidity. The result is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 6.5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, and 0.5% Malbec that defies the challenges of the year, offering a wine of charm, sophistication, and vibrant energy. Aged for 18 months in new French oak, the 2022 vintage is approachable in its youth but built with the structure to age gracefully for decades. Tasting Notes: Nose: A rich and inviting bouquet of blueberry, cassis, and dried rose petals, layered with complex undertones of olive, cigar box, and graphite. Palate: Creamy and harmonious. Bright red-fruit flavors dance with notes of cocoa and fresh orange peel. The tannins are fine-grained and satin-like, providing a plush mid-palate texture. Finish: Long, elegant, and mineral-driven. Notes of wet stone, vanilla, and a hint of dark coffee linger on the finish. Critical Acclaim: 97 Points - Decanter: "Very open and alive... this is a darling of a wine." 96 Points - James Suckling: "Generous, with savory aromas... spicy, toasty oak is really showing through right now." 95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Boasting a ripe, extroverted personality... expansive and plush." This is a vintage that rewards the collector who values a fresher, more elegant expression of Napa Cabernet.
