Opposing Static, 10x10”

Abstract oil painting on canvas paper, sealed with finishing wax. Inner measurement is 4 3/4” x 4 3/4” Outer frame is 10.5” x 10.5” set with a 2” deep shadow frame in white protected by plexiglass.  This piece is part of a series I’ve been working on for over a year and have cut up a larger painting to create new layers. When framed in a deep set frame these small pieces make quite the statement on the wall.  Using bolder earth tones, this piece reflects tones of natural earth pigments like ground up rocks and clay, which give it a grounding feeling, and a tonal range that fits with most interior color palettes.  *photos were taken without the plexiglass covering to display the colors of the painting with more accuracy without reflection
