One Path, Book One

A cavepeople vs.dinos comic created, written and illustrated by Greg Broadmore. From the publisher: In a brutal, primordial world, one warrior dares to defy the ancient laws of survival, risking everything to free her people from the deadly beasts that rule their lives. Hunted by giant primordial beasts, red in tooth and claw, a tribe of cavegirls scratch out a bleak existence in a brutal uncaring world. They cling onto a life where not many make it beyond the first few months, let alone to adulthood. Governed by ancient laws and arcane rituals - the only constants they have - they follow the old ways on pain of death. But One Path, a hunter and warrior, has a plan to change their lives. To free them from the toll the great predators that stalk them charge, and it will overturn everything they know. Sometimes change is more terrifying than death. Visceral and raw, One Path is a tour de force of atmosphere and action! -- Dave Gibbons, Watchmen Wildly beautiful and intense beyond compare. Unforgettable images from a brilliantly conceived world. -- Neal Stephenson, New York Times bestselling author of Termination Shock, Cryptonomicon, and Snow Crash Pitching dinos against cave girls in a breathtakingly original world--no one could do it better than Greg Broadmore. This is prehistoric combat at its most blood thirsty and painted with barbaric splendour!! -- Richard Taylor, Weta Workshop There are certain artists in the world whose creations leave you feeling that no other person on earth could have produced them. Greg is one of these artists. His work is so distinctive and unique that it is immediately recognizable as his own. In the case of ONE PATH, this distinctiveness is not only visual but also delves into ideas about sex, history, and culture. It even touches on the existential. Essentially, it is rich in ideas. Dense concepts, processed in the background, produce stunning images in the foreground. You can either engage with these deeper layers or simply appreciate his unabashed obsession with dinosaurs. It's remarkable. -- Neill Blomkamp, Director of District 9, Chappie, and Elysium This is as dark and visceral as heroic fantasy gets, particularly in comic form--and for readers who enjoy the genre, this book delivers the goods, along with the gore. The pull of tradition collides with the reality of progress in this grim and graphic fantasy tale. -- Kirkus Reviews Greg Broadmore is a conceptual designer, artist, writer and sculptor based in Wellington, New Zealand.
