OM-3 ASTRO at a glance. Experience creative freedom redefined under open skies. The OM SYSTEM OM-3 ASTRO is a dedicated astrophotography camera designed to push beyond daylight, capturing stars, galaxies, red nebulas, and nightscapes with confidence and precision. From glowing horizons to silent, remote dark skies, it lets you explore the universe and your creativity, wherever the night takes you. Dedicated power for astrophotography A dedicated astrophotography camera engineered to capture faint Hα light, from expansive starscapes to deep-sky detail. Built to capture red nebulae A dedicated IR cut filter tuned for Hα wavelengths, combined with powerful TruePic™ X processing, reveals vivid red nebulae and fine celestial detail, delivering stunning image quality from wide starscapes to deep-sky scenes. Astro-tuned colour & custom modes Preconfigured custom modes and dedicated color profiles make capturing the night sky effortless. From red nebulae to starry landscapes, optimized stacking, Starry Sky AF, and astro-tuned color deliver impressive results—beautifully rendered straight out of the camera. Deep-sky detail, perfectly aligned When Handheld High Res Shot is activated with the camera mounted on a tripod or equatorial mount, multiple exposures are combined into a 50MP image. Intelligent image alignment reduces noise and corrects star motion and tracking errors for crisp, high-resolution astrophotography. Capture the stars like never before with powerful in-camera features Handheld High Res Shot Shooting with Handheld High Res Shot when the camera is mounted on a tripod will produce composite images in which the diurnal motion of the stars is corrected. Timelapse Capture the motion of stars and planets, entirely in-camera. Produce smooth night-sky timelapses ready to export in stunning 4K resolution. Colour profile control Create vibrant night skies with preset color modes on the creative dial, designed for astrophotography. Easily apply optimal settings for red nebulae or starry landscapes, adjust saturation, highlights, and shadows, and save your favorite profiles. Why Handheld High Res on a Tripod? High Res Shot uses in-camera stacking to produce higher-quality images with greater detail and reduced noise. By capturing and compositing multiple frames, OM SYSTEM’s High Res Shot function generates ultra-high-resolution images. While Handheld High Res Shot is typically used without support, fixing the camera to a tripod or equatorial mount allows astrophotography-style stacking to be completed in a single in-body process. This approach increases resolution and corrects star movement or tracking errors, resulting in cleaner, sharper images. Tip: When shooting fixed on a tripod, set the shutter speed so that the exposure time per frame is such that the stars appear as dots. Remotely capture flawless night-sky shots with perfect stability Use the OI.Share app or RM-WR2 remote controller to capture stars with pinpoint accuracy. Shoot long exposures, timelapses, and high-resolution astro images without touching the camera, keeping every frame sharp and stable. RM-WR2 Wireless Remote Control Release Wirelessly control your camera via Bluetooth using the RM-WR2 for precise, stable night-sky photography. The free OI.Share App Wireless remote control, camera live view on your mobile device screen, and browsing and importing images—even with the camera in your backpack. The OI.Share app does it all. Color Profile Control For the final touch, the OM-3 ASTRO’s color profile control enhances night skies straight out of the camera, emphasizing red tones so nebulae and stars stand out with dramatic, expressive impact.
