Tasting Notes Nose: A captivating and complex bouquet that immediately transports you to a bygone era. There's a subtle, almost ethereal sweetness of aged caramel and vanilla bean, interwoven with whispers of dried apricot and fig. Deeper exploration reveals delicate baking spices – a hint of nutmeg and a whisper of cinnamon – alongside a distinctive leathery note and a touch of antique oak. A faint, earthy char provides a robust counterbalance to the sweeter elements, adding significant depth. Palate: The palate, while at 86 proof, delivers an unexpected richness and full body. The caramel and vanilla from the nose are amplified, presenting as a luxurious, creamy toffee. This is quickly followed by a delightful interplay of dark fruit notes – dried cherry and plum, softened by a touch of milk chocolate. The oak influence is gracefully present, not overpowering, offering a gentle grip with hints of cedar and old polished wood. A faint nuttiness, perhaps roasted almond, emerges mid-palate, complemented by a persistent, delicate spice, reminiscent of allspice. Finish: The finish is remarkably long and satisfying, gracefully fading rather than abruptly ending. It leaves a warm, lingering sensation of sweet oak, vanilla, and a touch of that fine, leathery char. The baking spices resurface in a gentle warmth, and a delicate, almost floral sweetness persists, inviting another sip. There’s a pleasant dryness that cleanses the palate without stripping it, leaving a desire for more. A testament to its carefully developed character.
