With its glassy luster, obsidian is a distinctive stone. Obsidian is formed as lava from volcanic eruptions cools within the earth. The speed at which it cools prevents crystallization and the rock forms as solid volcanic glass. The obsidian is then formed into our scrying mirrors. Scrying is a technique of divination, cultivated through a prolonged gaze. The art was famously practiced by the 16th century astronomer, mathematician and alchemist John Dee with the assistance of Edward Kelley, using a black obsidian mirror. The small obsidian mirror on a rope-bead necklace is a great portable scrying tool and charm for psychic protection. Free shipping!
