The use of flaked oats adds body and a silky mouthfeel, softening roasted malt bitterness and creating a fuller impression without excessive sweetness. Compared to drier Irish stouts, oatmeal stouts emphasize balance and drinkability, with chocolate and light coffee notes supported by gentle bitterness.
