Notes of an Aging Pervert

From the legendary co-author of The Ethical Slut comes this meditation on aging. With the awareness and insights she has garnered through life as a kinky celebrant of alternative and extreme sexualities, Janet W. Hardy's Notes of an Aging Pervert considers everything from wrinkles and hair loss to body modification and conscious dying - and how to fit into the changing human forms we end up becoming along the way. This concise collection of spirited essays and joyful illustrations is often funny, occasionally sad, and sometimes mind-bending. Who among us can actually imagine an existence outside time, space, and the body? Assuredly a great read for anyone whose pathway diverges from the main road, Notes of an Aging Pervert is also a book for those who are aging - which is to say everyone. Any queer-identifying person, and a sizable number of straight ones, will find some rich, inspiring, and provocative ideas to ponder here, all shared in straightforward, accessible language that does away with the jargon often defining discussions of such complex subjects. Janet W. Hardy is the author or coauthor of more than a dozen groundbreaking books about relationships and sexuality, including The Ethical Slut, which has sold more than 500,000 copies to date and has been translated into more than a dozen languages. She spent the first three decades of her life believing that she was the only person in the world who got turned on by thinking about spanking. She wrote her first book, The Sexually Dominant Woman, to help create a world in which nobody else would ever be that clueless. Janet has traveled the world as a speaker and teacher on topics ranging from ethical multipartner relationships to erotic spanking and beyond. She has appeared in documentary films, television shows, and more podcasts and radio shows than she can count. She has narrated audio versions of many of her books, and looks forward to doing more. Janet spent a quarter century as editor-in-chief of Greenery Press, the firm she founded in 1992, which went on to publish dozens of books about alternative sexuality and relationships. While she has retired from publishing, she goes on writing, drawing, editing, speaking and educating about sexuality. Janet lives the life of a kinky poly queer genderbent geezer in Eugene, Oregon, with her equally kinky poly queer genderbent spouse.   "I owe a debt to Janet Hardy for her work as a kink writer. Her words helped me write about my own life as a pervert. All who think and write about the joys of the body cannot help but think about its briefness, its limitations, and the pain of its upkeep. Hardy has written a personable, lighthearted, and honest foray into territory most people fear and yet everyone, if they are lucky, must face: getting old. She writes with bravery, a chuckle, and not an ounce of self-pity in what can best be described as a series of glimpses — at her life, her body, and her many loves as someone over sixty-five, the boundary between adulthood and so-called old age, in her words. I can't say I fear ageing less after reading this book, but I hope I get there, and I hope I have someone like Janet holding my hand every step of the way. This book is that hand-hold for hedonists, and we are lucky to have it." - Alexander Cheves "A meaningful, beautiful and necessary book on how to get old. Being slutty and being alive for a long time is a true honor and a privilege. This book lays it all out in frank and profound terms. I loved it. Let's get old together and truly live it and not lose any of the things we used to be but just do them all better." - Margaret Cho
