Not For Keeps by Jasmine Ahmad

Analyse and her daughter, Maya, have been doing just fine by themselves. Being a single mom isn’t always easy, but in the small town of Lake City there’s always someone willing to lend a hand. Things aren’t perfect, but they’re perfectly hers. Until Nico, Maya’s father and the man that walked away from her, comes back into town with one goal in A second chance with Analyse. Blindsided by his return, Analyse does the only thing she can think of—pretend she’s dating her brother’s best friend, Mateo. Lake City’s most charming firefighter and notorious flirt. It’s supposed to be fake. A temporary fix. But with every lingering glance and stolen kiss, it gets harder to remember where the pretending ends and the real feelings begin. And even though Analyse’s heart is falling fast, she knows one thing for Mateo was never meant to be hers, and this relationship is not for keeps.
