Dockstart pump foiling is one of the purest expressions of foilboarding—no wind, no waves, just you and your board defying gravity through raw pumping power. But starting off a dock with consistency and style? That’s easier said than done—until now. The Dockstarter holds your foilboard at the ideal angle for effortless stationary starts, so you can focus on technique and fun instead of fighting your gear. What Is the Dockstarter? The North Dockstarter is a purpose-built, inflatable launch pad engineered to make foil pumping from stationary platforms smoother, safer, and more accessible. Compatible with docks, boats, jetties, and other waterside structures, it securely holds your foilboard in a fixed upright position, foil in the water and board ready for takeoff. When you jump on, the Dockstarter flexes just enough to release the board, allowing a clean and stable transition into pumping. Lightweight, portable, and easy to set up, this floating foil accessory packs away into your trunk or van and inflates in minutes. It’s a game-changer for anyone who wants to foil more days, ride in flatwater conditions, or just get a solid pump workout in. Rinse it off, dry it out, and it’s ready for the next session. How To Use the North Dockstarter: A Step-by-Step Guide Launching from the Dockstarter is simple, intuitive, and effective. Here’s how to get started: 🔧 Setup Instructions Lay the Dockstarter flat with the valve facing up. Inflate to 9 PSI (max 15 PSI) using your standard pump (not included). Fold the middle section upright so the NS logo faces you. Attach the side straps to lock the middle upright at a 90° angle. Fold down the front legs and secure with the leg straps. Choose between front or rear loops for desired board angle. Position the Dockstarter with the foil-facing side in deep, obstacle-free water. Insert the dock anchors between dock boards and rotate 90° to lock. Tie off anchor ropes in a wide "V" for safe, clear run-up paths. 🏄 Loading & Launching Place your foilboard in the Dockstarter from the front, with the mast positioned near the back of the floating platform and foil wings fully submerged. Take a running jump from the dock, landing both feet down the board centerline. As you land, the Dockstarter will flex and release your board for a smooth water entry. Start pumping immediately to generate lift and ride away clean. Performance Tips for Dock Foiling Success Use at least a 65cm mast for proper foil clearance and underwater performance. Wet the bottom of your board before loading for a friction-free release. Land softly and evenly, planting both feet at the same time. Push forward immediately upon landing to engage foil lift. Wear a helmet, especially in early practice sessions—safety first! Choose docks with enough clearance and non-slip surfaces for safe run-ups. Whether you’re practicing short sprints or pushing for distance records, the Dockstarter gives you a consistent platform to launch from every time. Why the North Dockstarter is a Must-Have for Flatwater Foilers Pump Foiling isn’t just a skill—it’s a full-body workout and a foil discipline in its own right. The Dockstarter eliminates the most frustrating part of the learning curve: the start. By holding your board in a stable, ready-to-go position, it removes variables and gives you confidence to focus on form, endurance, and progression. It’s also perfect for social sessions. Bring it to the lake or river, set it up on your buddy’s boat or backyard dock, and take turns launching. Once you start sharing pump sessions with friends, it becomes not just a tool—but a party piece. Use Cases Flatwater foiling on lakes, rivers, or bays Training sessions when there’s no swell or wind Boat-side launching for foil missions Foil technique development Social group sessions Off-season fitness cross-training Whether you're a beginner learning dockstarting or a seasoned pro chasing new PRs, the Dockstarter levels the playing field for all foilers. Storage & Maintenance Rinse with fresh water after every use and dry fully before packing. Avoid contact with sharp objects or barnacled docks. Fold loosely—don’t crease tightly or leave under full pressure long-term. Keep the valve area free of grit, dirt, and sand. Never tow or ride the Dockstarter like a watercraft. It’s a launch platform, not a flotation device. Treat your Dockstarter right, and it will keep delivering reliable foil starts season after season. The Bottom Line If you’re serious about foiling, flatwater pumping, or learning dockstarts the right way, the North Dockstarter Inflatable Launch Pad is an essential addition to your quiver. It removes the guesswork, boosts your progression, and turns any dock into a foil-ready platform. Light, durable, easy to set up, and incredibly fun to use, it’s the perfect foil training companion.
