Nonna Table Lamp - Travertine

The Audo Copenhagen Nonna Table Lamp solves a problem most people don't realize they're dealing with until they see this - how do you get meaningful lighting in tight spots like narrow shelves, windowsills, or shallow consoles without it looking awkward or taking up too much space? The tall base is less than 10 inches around and the wide version sits at just 6 inches deep, so it actually fits where typical lamps can't. Designed by Krøyer-Sætter-Lassen, the lamp pairs a subtly textured sand-colored textile shade with either a cool brushed aluminium base or an earthy travertine base, creating what the designers call "a harmonious play of contrasts." What's smart about the proportions is how it feels generous in character while staying physically compact - you get real presence without sacrificing the precious space in hallways, bedrooms, or those awkward nooks that never quite work with standard lighting. The name itself is a quiet tribute to grandmothers, with both designers crediting theirs as inspiration for understanding atmosphere and mood in design. The material choices here really matter in ways that go beyond just aesthetics. The brushed aluminium version brings that cool Scandinavian precision, while the travertine option adds warmth and texture that photographs beautifully but more importantly creates this grounded naturality in person. The softly diffused light enriches interiors with warmth and calm - it's what the designers describe as "a gentle punctuation in the room" rather than an overwhelming statement. Takes 2 x E27 bulbs up to 15 watts each, with a discreet switch and matching 220cm cord that keeps everything visually clean. The lamp has already been nominated for Design Award 2025 in the Lamp of the Year category by Bolig Magasinet, Scandinavian Living, and Bo Bedre, which speaks to how it manages to blend heritage, refinement, and modern craftsmanship into something that's both functional and genuinely poetic. Available in heights of 24cm for the aluminium version and 30cm for the travertine, both sized to work in contexts where space is at a premium but you don't want to compromise on design. Audo Copenhagen was created by uniting two iconic Danish design companies, MENU and by Lassen, forming a brand that offers furniture, lighting, and accessories designed with a focus on functionality, quality, and sustainability. They work with talented design studios from Copenhagen and around the world, including regular collaborators like Krøyer-Sætter-Lassen and Norm Architects, to create pieces that bridge Danish design heritage with modern global trends. The brand's philosophy centers on creating a global community of design enthusiasts while producing objects that feel valuable now and forever, with that distinctly Scandinavian approach where beautiful design should adapt to urban living contexts rather than demanding you rearrange your life around precious objects.
