Noble Native Sedge (Carex)

(Woodland Sedge) Carex 'Noble Native' is a graceful, low-growing 6-12 inches tall and 12-24 inches wide, sedge valued for its fine texture and natural look in the landscape. This native-inspired perennial forms soft, arching clumps of narrow creamy white foliage against is blue-green base. It creates a calm, flowing look from spring through fall, with foliage often persisting into winter. It is hardy in zones 5-9, making it a dependable choice across much of the country. Carex 'Noble Native' performs best in part shade to shade, though it can tolerate some sun, especially in cooler climates. Unlike many ornamental grasses, this sedge adapts well to average to consistent water needs with fertile soil including woodland conditions, once established. It is also considered deer and rabbit resistant, making it a smart option for areas with browsing pressure. In garden design, Carex 'Noble Native' excels as a groundcover, edging plant, or filler in woodland gardens, shade borders, and naturalized landscapes. It pairs beautifully with spring bulbs, native perennials, and shrubs, adding texture while quietly tying plantings together. Carex 'Noble Native' is a Proven Winners® Perennial.
