Niterider Mako Mini Front Light

If you are a neophyte commuter and really don’t know whether you want to invest too much in your new activity, the NiteRider Mako Mini Front Light will keep you safe on your early morning or late evening rides without committing you to a major investment. Commuting is only a good option when you are well prepared. You wouldn’t drive your car to work without having a functioning headlamp or windshield wiper. Nor should you risk riding your bike after dark without proper illumination. The Mako Mini is the smallest in the NiteRider Mako commuting lights line up, and as such puts out a reasonable, if not blinding 50 lumens. But what may prove more useful are the “gills” on either side of the light, which will reveal a red light that will alert cross traffic to your presence. That alone could save your life at a poorly lit intersection. There are three settings with a high, low, and flash functions. If you run it on high, you’ll get 12 hours of light while if you run it on flash – which is probably the mode you’ll use most for those pre-dusk rides – you can count on 60 hours of light. The Mako Mini is powered by one AA battery, which will make it super easy for you to replace since just about any store or filling station will carry them. And even with the battery weight, the Mako Mini tips the scale at only 105 grams. The NiteRider Mako Mini Front Light will strike the perfect balance for your safety vs. cost ratio. After all, how much do we really want to spend to get to work?
