Long August Nights, by Sandy Grossman

Prose, chapbook, 36 pages, from Bottlecap Features. A girl, desperate for an affection she does not understand, summons the dead. A woman returns home from college to discover her mother taking a strange and familiar communion. A boy must confront his secret desires when something calls to him from the trees, asking to be fed. Long August Nights collects five stories of intimate horror and unnatural encounters. They are stories about the woods and the things in the dirt; about the call of the wild and all the reasons you should probably let it ring; about growing up, and everything it takes from us. Stories for those summer nights that go on longer than they should. Sandy Grossman is a horror writer from Los Angeles. He loves strange creatures, queer themes, and young people in way over their heads. You can find more of his work in Crow and Cross Keys.
