Harry Day in 1905.The blue color was the same color as the blue field of the American FlagThe basic design of silver & gold refers to the large silver and gold resources of Nevada. After a few redesigns, the fourth design is now the current flag. The background color chosen was Pantone 286 blue. A five-pointed silver star is positioned in the upper left quarter of the flag between two sprays of sagebrush that  cross to form a half-wreath. Sagebrush is the national flower. Across the top of the wreath is a golden scroll with the words "Battle Born" in black letters. The phrase "Battle Born" signifies that Nevada entered the Union during the Civil War. Under the star, NEVADA is written in gold.    Read more about the history of the Nevada State Flag at the Nevada State Flag Website.
