The Avlea Folk Embroidery "Byzantine Motifs" series of needleminders is inspired by the tiny decorations and ornamentations found in Byzantine manuscripts and iconography. These lovely motifs are tiny works of art! Needleminders are terrific for not just holding your needle when not in use, but for securing your fabric as you stitch, or holding your pattern to your frame. They can even be worn as a beautiful magnet pin! Needleminder is 1" across and comes with a 1/2" neodinum magnet (it's strong!) Many people associate knotwork with Celtic art, but it also occurs in Byzantine art in myriad forms all the way from large knotwork borders found in Byzantine illuminated manuscripts down to tiny interlacings such as this one.
