Nature, She Wrote, by KAD

Poetry, chapbook, 28 pages, from Bottlecap Features. Nature, She Wrote is a lyrical, emotionally charged exploration of humanity’s fractured relationship with the natural world, featuring the award-winning poem, “Why, Oh Why?”. Through intimate encounters with birds, forests, ice, clouds, and seas, the poems give voice to a planet that feels wounded, overlooked, and exploited. Nature is not a backdrop here, she is a sentient presence who mourns, questions, retaliates, and remembers. Each piece reveals a different facet of environmental decline: disappearing seasons, traumatized wildlife, polluted landscapes, and the quiet vanishing of childhood wonders once shaped by the outdoors. The tone moves fluidly between nostalgia, lament, and accusation, creating a portrait of a world dimming under human carelessness. Across all its pieces, the collection blends tenderness with severity, offering both a eulogy for what has been lost and a cautionary tale about what may come. It invites readers to reconsider their place in the natural order and to recognize the emotional and spiritual consequences of environmental neglect.
