Native Copper

Native copper is copper found in its pure, uncombined state in nature, and it is one of the few metals that occurs in this form. Copper is formed naturally through geological processes that involve superheated, mineral-rich fluids or the slow cooling of magma. Hydrothermal fluids, often associated with volcanic activity, leach copper from rock, concentrate it, and deposit it in veins or other deposits. This piece is from Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula, which is famous for having the world's largest deposits of native copper. Historically, the region was a major source of pure copper in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and Native Americans mined it for thousands of years before commercial operations began in the 1840s. Associated with conducting and amplifying energy, combatting lethargy, and helping with emotional healing by cleansing negative energy and promoting positivity. Approx.
