Nakiyo Olivewood Spatula

Our spatulas are solidly constructed but taper to a fine edge, making them strong but capable at lifting, flipping, and scraping. Unlike metal utensils, wood is perfect for the job because it won't scratch your cookware. The Nakiyo Tunisian Olivewood Collection is handmade in Tunisia, where some of the oldest and vastest olive groves in the Mediterranean Basin provide our local artisan partners with beautifully figured, sustainable hardwood when the trees reach the end of their productive lives. Olivewood’s natural resistance to moisture and heat, strength, and density (99% that of water) make it a superb choice for the demands of the kitchen and home, while its beauty and individuality make each piece a work of art. Olivewood is renowned for its durability, but to help it last a lifetime, avoid prolonged exposure to water and high temperatures. Wood should never go in the dishwasher! It can be washed by hand with warm water and gentle soap, then allowed to dry thoroughly before being put away. The wood is already oiled with food-grade mineral oil to bolster its resistance to moisture and stains, but after a few months of use, or when the wood begins to dull, you can restore its protection and color by applying a thin coat of any food-safe oil and letting it set overnight before wiping off any excess. Because these items are handmade from a natural material, no two pieces are alike. The images and specifications provided are representative of our selection but will not precisely match your unique piece.
