Naim Classic NAP 250-DR

NAP 250 DR Modern yet classic.     OVERVIEW Few components in the history of hi-fi can match the pedigree of the mighty NAP 250. First introduced in 1975, its regular updates – both aesthetic and technical – have kept it at the very forefront of power amplifier performance for more than three decades, creating unforgettable musical experiences for countless music lovers worldwide. The latest NAP 250 lives up to the challenge set by its predecessors. Housed in the low-resonance, anodised aluminium enclosure of the Classic Series, it delivers 80W per channel (into 8ohms) with all the speed, power and agility needed to unleash your music. New Statement Technology Our flagship Statement amplification system was ten years in the making. The research and development project drew on all of our knowledge and expertise, yielding several breakthroughs in technology. We’ve recently introduced two new technologies from the Statement project to our core range of power amplifiers. The NAP 250 now features the new NA009 transistors first introduced in Statement. In development for over a year, this key component was created in partnership with a specialist semi-conductor manufacturer to achieve the best possible sound quality. The 250 also includes the high power Naim Audio DR (Discrete Regulator) technology used in Statement to provide the smooth, stable power supply we know is critical for the audio electronics to make music come to life. These two new technologies, combined with other small improvements to layout and componentry, mean the NAP 250 DR can produce even more of the fundamental musical pace, rhythm and timing that made the originals so popular with music lovers.   Features 80W per channel output into 8 ohms Large custom-designed transformer providing 400VA of transient power Advanced 009 output transistors, as used in our reference NAP 500 and Statement power amplifier     Technology & Craft Like the flagship NAP 500, and the NAP 300, the NAP 250 uses a new circuit design with improved earthing arrangements, built on a very high quality, anti-resonance main audio circuit board. The NAP 250 uses the same NA009 transistors that were custom-designed for the NAP 500. These outstanding components each provide up to 80 amps and 350 Watts, negating the need to use parallel pairs of transistors (which always have a negative effect on sound). Additional NA009 transistors are used in the fully regulated power supply, ensuring the very best performance. A new top-quality transformer is used providing the ability to deliver more than 15 Amps and swing a massive 400VA on transients. The NAP 250 is stable into any load and able to drive a 2-Ohm load for long periods of time.   REVIEW & AWARDS Naim NAP 250DR and NAC-N 272: An in depth review - Read More  "As is by now clear, there was an overwhelming impression left by the Naim NAC N-272 and NAP 250DR combination; power, control, precision and transparency. Where the Naim system really impressed, however, was that it never felt clinical or sterile; the music was only ever represented in a truly faithful and uncoloured way." - BOB   Naim Nap 250 Review – DR Power Amplifier - Read More  "The NAP 250 Amplifier is the best one when I personally reviewed it and I well-liked. Due in part to its iconic status but primarily as a result of the sound. There isn’t really anything that compares to it because it is our and Naim’s most well-known power amp of all time! The 250 now has the same output transistors, therefore the only item that sounds comparable in terms of sound is the considerably more expensive NAC 300. The NAP 250 DR is a classic revived, power amplifier for the high-resolution era that will take any signal and make the most of it. " - AudioGuru Staff   Naim Classic 200 Series NAP 250 power amplifier - Read More  "The NAP 250 stereo power amplifier proved to be easy to install and drive. It is loudspeaker-load tolerant and offers unusually high electrical efficiency. To the surprise and delight of all who experienced it, the sound quality was remarkably improved in every parameter. It is undoubtedly a front-line performer." - Martin Colloms   Naim NAP 250 DR - Read More  "If you are looking for a tool that shows you precisely what’s going on in a recording this is one of the best amplifiers for the job, but it still puts the musical message first, analysis may be possible but emotional communication is the essence." - Jason Kennedy   SPECIFICATIONS  Audio Inputs Input Impedance 18kΩ Analogue Input 1 x XLR Audio Outputs Minimum Load Impedance 2Ω Frequency Response -3dB at 3Hz - 50kHz Gain +29dB Finish Case Black powder coated Front Brushed and black anodised Physical Weight 15.8 kg Dimensions 240 x 590 x 500 mm Shipping Dimensions 240 x 590 x 500 mm Shipping Weight 18.4 kg Power Mains Supply 100V, 115V, 230V; 50 or 60Hz Power Consumption (quiescent) 25VA Speaker Outputs Power Output 80W/channel, 8Ω Transient 400VA Speaker Outputs L & R, 4mm “banana” sockets Supplied with Supplied with Standard Interconnect, Power-Line Lite mains cable (UK denominations only)
