Mythic Perspectives, by Juliana Amir

Prose, chapbook, 40 pages, from Bottlecap Features. This collection animates perspectives from beloved characters to the almost forgotten. Each title within Mythic Perspectives introduces a new voice that stems from history, folklore, fairytales, or mythology. The voice behind the words, shifting from story to story, explores both the darkness of human emotions and the magic. Splash with the selkie’s daughter or the rusalka. Wander with the girl who remembers Wonderland. From the banshee of the Badlands, to Hypatia whose conviction blazed in stories long after her murder, to the innocent child caped in red, to the step-mother who learned manipulation is survival, this collection reflects the empowerment of embracing our identity—for better or worse. Which character will speak to your story? Juliana Amir is a graduate of Ohio's NEOMFA.
