It’s widely considered a workhorse in construction and paving jobs because of its reliable Honda engine, robust build, and performance specs tuned for productivity and operator comfort.  Key Features & Benefits Here’s what makes the MVC82VH a standout compactor: Engine: Powered by a Honda GX160 engine known for easy start-ups, consistent performance, and durable operation even in challenging environments.  Anti-vibration Handle: Reduces operator fatigue significantly—improving comfort during long periods of use.  Cyclonic Pre-cleaner: Helps capture airborne contaminants before they reach the engine, prolonging engine life and reducing maintenance. Solid Steel Base Plate: The base plate is made of high strength steel, with curved edges for smoother turns on asphalt. The plate also has an open design so dirt and debris buildup is easier to remove.  Roll Bar / Lifting Point: Tubular steel roll bar protects key engine parts and serves as a central lift point for easier transportation or placement.  Sealed Belt Cover + Cog-Tooth Belt Drive: Improves durability vs. traditional V-belts and reduces wear from dust, rocks etc.  Optional Water Tank: For asphalt work to reduce sticking/hazing, the water tank is tool-free removable and holds about 11.6 quarts.  Detailed Specifications Below are the technical specifications of the MVC82VH (and its water-tank variant MVC82VHW) compactor: Spec MVC82VH (no water tank) MVC82VHW (with water tank) Centrifugal Force 3,080 lbf (~13.7 kN)  Same 3,080 lbf  Exciter Speed 5,600 VPM (vibrations per minute)  Same 5,600 VPM  Plate Size 17.7 in × 22.4 in (450 mm × 570 mm)  Same size  Max Forward Speed ~82 ft/min (~25 m/min) without water tank  Lower (~72 ft/min / ~22 m/min) when water tank option installed  Fuel Consumption ~0.31 gal/hr (≈1.17 L/hr)  Same approximate fuel use  Operating Weight ~175 lb (79 kg) no tank  ~181 lb (82 kg) with water tank option  Dimensions (L × W × H) 36 in × 17.7 in × 39.5 in (914 × 450 × 1003 mm)  Shipping Weight ~200 lb (≈91 kg) Performance, Applications, and Use Cases The MVC82VH is built for tasks where solid compaction is needed, especially in: Asphalt paving and repairs — The plate size, force, and optional water tank help avoid tack-stick and promote smooth finishing. Granular soils compaction — Excellent performance in compacting base layers with sand, gravel, or mixed soils. Confined and tight spaces — Although it’s a forward plate compactor (not reversible), its dimensions make it usable in narrower zones compared to large walk-behind rollers. Construction / road maintenance / driveway paving — Any job requiring a strong, compacted subbase layer. Pros & Trade-Offs Pros: High centrifugal force (3,080 lbf) giving strong compaction per pass. Durable build with components designed for wear and ease of maintenance. Optional water tank is a big plus for asphalt work. Anti-vibration handle improves operator comfort and reduces fatigue. Efficient fuel consumption for its class. Trade-Offs: Forward plate means compactor only moves in one direction — less maneuverability compared to reversible plates for some jobs. Heavier weight (especially with water tank) makes transport a consideration. As with any plate compactor, surface finish on hot asphalt requires careful handling to avoid tearing or marks. Maintenance Tips To ensure the MVC82VH Plate Compactor delivers peak performance and long life: Check engine oil regularly; maintain proper levels and change oil per Honda’s guidelines. Clean or replace air filters, especially the cyclonic pre-cleaner to avoid dust causing engine wear. Inspect and maintain base plate — remove built-up debris under plate to ensure smooth, even contact. Check belts & covers — sealed belt covers and cog-tooth belts need periodic inspection; loose or damaged belts reduce compaction or cause failure. Water tank option care — if using, ensure tank is clean; water metering or wet asphalt spray should be even to avoid streaks. Storage — keep in dry environment; protect from corrosive elements when not in use. Why Choose the MVC82VH For contractors and equipment managers deciding where to invest, the MVC82VH stands out for: Balanced performance vs. portability — strong compaction without the bulk and higher cost of larger reversible or walk-behind rollers. Versatility — suitable for both asphalt and soil work with optional tank and advanced features. Reliability — Honda’s trusted engine, and Multiquip’s reputation for rugged build quality. Operator comfort — features designed to reduce fatigue, which means more productivity and less downtime. Conclusion The Multiquip MVC82VH Plate Compactor is a solid choice for any contractor needing dependable performance in forward plate compaction. With its 3,080 lbf of centrifugal force, reasonably compact dimensions, and optional water tank, it covers many use cases—especially asphalt work and granular base compaction. It may not replace a reversible plate in every scenario, but for what it does, it does very well. If you’re writing content or creating a product page for this compactor, emphasizing its power, durability, optional tank, and comfort features will help both users and Google understand why it’s a top option in its class.
