Murano Red soffiato vase Italy, ca. 1930 Soffiato vase with dense ribbing and applied handles 9" h, 6 1/8" d (23, 15.5 cm) Murano glassblowers are known world over for their high degree of technical skill in blowing Soffiato, or light blown, glass. Prior to the Second World War, this style of glass accounted for the majority of production. This vase is executed in dark red glass with very dense ribbing that has been spirally distorted. It features two applied handles that are also ribbed. The very flat foot seen here was popular in the twenties to very early thirties. Excellent condition. Shipping is free within the United States.
