Mummification

Mummification by Ernst Uehli (translated by Rudolf Copple) is an excerpt from Kultur und Kunst Aegyptens Ein Isisgeheimnis, newly published by Waldorf Publications. This chapter delves into the profound mysteries of ancient Egyptian mummification, examining its origins, rituals, and cultural significance. Uehli situates the practice within the Egyptian worldview, where the human form was regarded as the work of the gods and worthy of preservation, and connects it to broader spiritual and historical developments. Through descriptions of embalming rites, temple traditions, and insights into Egyptian medicine and natural science, this work invites readers to contemplate the enduring riddle of death and the spiritual knowledge preserved in Egyptian culture.
