Multicultural Workplace

Recognizing and capitalizing on the skills and talents of all employees is crucial to success in today's business world. This MTI video can help any manager better understand and unlock the value that comes from having a culturally diverse workforce. To meet the challenges of a multicultural workplace, managers must come to understand the enormous role that cultural differences can play in any organization, for better or worse. Cultural misunderstandings are distracting at best, and at worst can lead to serious dysfunction and legal problems. Cultural understanding improves employee morale -— and it’s good for business as well! This program demonstrates how important it has become for managers to value cultural diversity, rather than repress or avoid it. Dramatizations show the difficulties that can result when people from differing cultural background interact in business settings — for example, how misunderstandings and wrong-headed cultural assumptions can lead to some employees' contributions being undervalued. The video underscores the need to consider an individual’s cultural outlook and professional style before judging an opinion or perspective. 32 minutes | Color
