The border of this throw-size quilt is a red fabric with an intricate floral display throughout. The binding is a similar patter but in a light shade of red and orange. This Multicolor Sawtooth is finalized with a black backing with red and pink leaves. ABOUT THIS PATTERN The Sawtooth Star is typically a nine-patch quilt block consisting of a center square, four corner squares, and four flying geese units forming the star points. The name “Sawtooth” comes from the right-angle triangles that resemble the teeth of a saw, reflecting the practical tools and imagery familiar to pioneer life. The jagged points of the Sawtooth Star are often interpreted as representing the challenges and perseverance, while the bright star itself symbolizes hope and guidance during uncertain times.
