Muhammad Ali Handwritten Note, Speech. "Pleasure in an Illusion, a Shadow of Happiness" JSA

Rare Handwritten Note! Presented here is a powerful and deeply personal handwritten note from Muhammad Ali, offering a rare glimpse into the philosophical mind of one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. Penned boldly in black marker, this one-page note reflects Ali’s lifelong engagement with identity, truth, and American Civil Rights—themes that defined his life both inside and outside the ring. Measuring approximately 5" x 8", the note stands as a striking example of Ali’s unfiltered voice—thoughtful, provocative, and unmistakably his. The handwritten passage reads: “But they often confuse happiness with pleasure, But pleasure is only an illusion, a shadow of happiness, and in this delusion the Negros pass.” Explanation per ChatGPT: Ali is saying that people mistake pleasure for true happiness. But pleasure is temporary, not real fulfillment. He then explains that Black people are misled into chasing these shallow comforts instead of deeper happiness. Handwritten notes from Muhammad Ali are exceptionally scarce and far more personal than standard signed items, elevating this piece well beyond a traditional autograph. A museum-worthy artifact and a true cornerstone for any serious boxing, cultural history, or Muhammad Ali collection. Full Letter of Authenticity from JSA, James Spence Authentication.
