MSI XL Rockmount Atlantic Blue 9"x24" Splitface Marble Ledger Panel Wall Tile

Rockmount XL-Series: Atlantic Blue 9" x 24" Splitface Marble Ledger Panel by MSI The "Nordic Coastal" Architectural Monolith While standard stacked stone panels typically limit you to rustic browns or harsh commercial grays, the MSI Rockmount XL Atlantic Blue Ledger Panel introduces an elevated, cool-toned landscape to vertical surfaces. It represents the absolute pinnacle of "Modern Coastal," "Nordic Minimalist," and "Suave Transitional" architecture. By scaling the ledger layout to a massive 9" x 24" format, it increases total panel surface area by 50% compared to standard sizes. This expanded canvas minimizes repetitive horizontal seams, allowing large, blocky shards of authentic stone to create a continuous, dramatic masonry structure across sprawling focal planes. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Infuse your home's vertical architecture with the deep, atmospheric serenity of the XL Rockmount Atlantic Blue Ledger Panel. Masterfully sourced and arranged by M S International (MSI) from select runs of high-density natural marble, this premium cladding panel completely redefines the expectations of dry-stacked stone. The color profile showcases an incredibly refined, cool-spectrum canvas: a dominant background of smoky slate blues and deep steel grays, balanced by frosted ice-white veining, charcoal shadows, and subtle mist-colored mineral layers. The XL Series is purposefully engineered to establish visual weight and tectonic character across grand scales. Rather than utilizing safe, flat surfaces, Atlantic Blue features an authentic Splitface finish—meaning the marble is fractured along its natural crystalline faults to expose a rugged, raw texture. Individual stone strips are hand-sorted and bound into interlocking panels with variable depths averaging 0.75 inches. This dimensional topography creates a sweeping linear shadow play that reacts dynamically to ambient sunlight or targeted spotlights, shifting from an understated matte blue during the day to a rich, high-contrast structural tapestry at night. KEY FEATURES Oversized XL 9" x 24" Architecture: Expansive format dramatically lowers the density of joint seams, delivering a cleaner, more realistic "quarried slab" look on large volumes. Moody Atlantic Blue Palette: A curated, high-end mix of cool slate blues, deep steels, and icy quartz veining that pairs seamlessly with modern charcoal or crisp white paint schemes. High-Relief Splitface Clefts: Raw, fractured marble strips offer bold 3D depth and organic tactile variation that synthetic or manufactured concrete veneers cannot mimic. Grout-Free Interlocking System: Stepped, puzzle-like interlocking boundaries allow individual panels to nest tightly together, completely hiding installation grid lines. Premium All-Weather Marble Core: Naturally frost-proof with exceptional density, making it entirely capable of weathering extreme freezing winters and intense, direct outdoor sun exposures. Standard gray thin-set or low-grade adhesive will leach dark moisture shadows through the backside of the porous marble while curing, permanently dulling your pristine blue-gray panels into a muddy, washed-out tone. Professional Recommendations: Substrate Structural Dead-Load: Because these oversized marble panels are exceptionally thick and heavy (~12 lbs per square foot), they cannot be installed directly over standard drywall or wallpaper. They must be anchored to a rigid cement backer board (firmly screwed to studs at 12-inch intervals) or applied directly over clean, structurally sound masonry or concrete block. The Multi-Box Grid Shuffle: Natural stone inherently carries lot-to-lot and block variation. Before applying any adhesive, unpack at least 3 to 4 boxes and lay the panels out on the floor. Mix panels with heavier white quartz veining evenly with the darker steel blue pieces to ensure a completely balanced visual distribution across the wall. Wet Saw Cutting Mandate: Natural marble contains crystalline silica. Installers must utilize a professional wet tile saw fitted with a continuous-rim diamond blade for all alterations. Never dry-cut these panels, as inhaling airborne silica dust causes severe, permanent respiratory damage. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Do these natural blue marble panels require a sealer? For interior dry walls (like a living room feature wall), sealing is optional but recommended to keep dust from clinging to the clefts. For outdoor facades, patio retaining walls, or surrounding a fireplace hearth, applying a premium, non-yellowing penetrating/impregnating sealer is highly mandatory. This invisible defense layer stops rainwater absorption and shields the slate-blue stone from water staining or efflorescence (white mineral salts bleeding out of the mortar). Can this splitface stone look be installed inside a wet shower? No, this is highly discouraged. While it handles exterior storm rain perfectly due to open-air evaporation, the dense, un-grouted nooks and split clefts of a dry-stack ledger panel will trap falling body oils, soap scum, and hard water minerals in an indoor enclosed shower. Over time, this leads to mold growth that is nearly impossible to scrub out. Keep this tile limited to dry accent walls, fireplaces, and outdoor facades. PRO DESIGN TIPS The Staggered Corner Solution: If wrapping an outward 90-degree corner (such as an exterior support pillar or a three-sided fireplace), pair these flat panels with matching XL Atlantic Blue 9" x 18" Corner L-Pieces. Flip-flop the corner blocks 180 degrees on alternating rows (alternating the long and short legs) to completely hide the vertical corner seam and preserve a solid-masonry look. Grazing LED Lighting Schemes: Install cool-to-neutral spectrum (4000K) overhead LED spotlights or a hidden valance strip directly above the stone feature wall. Setting the lights to graze down the wall catches the rugged top edges of the splitface clefts, projecting intense, sharp shadows that maximize the 3D look of the stone at night. Warm Organic Harmonies: Soften the moody, masculine energy of the dark blue-gray steel tones by layering the surrounding space with warm white oak timbers, sand-colored natural linens, or brushed champagne bronze metal finishes. The contrast makes the cool stone tones pop with high-end transitional energy.
