By comparison, the MR8 provides compact and powerful lighting. The “MR” in their name stands for “multifaceted reflector.” This refers to the angular facets surrounding the filament in conventional bulbs. These facets were covered by a highly reflective coating, providing powerful lighting and precise beam spread. The “8” in “MR8” refers to the size of the bulb being 8/8 inches, or 1 inch.
