This series includes the MS-1 music streamer, MP-1 preamplifier, and MA-1 power amplifier, creating a complete flagship system that embodies Matrix Audio's understanding of Hi-Fi audio. The M series is the first lineup to feature the new Matrix Design language, setting the stage for the future evolution of Matrix Audio products. Evaluating audio products through the lenses of "listening" and "looking" has always been central to Matrix Audio's philosophy. From concept to design, every step reflects a passion for music and a pursuit of beauty. The MP-1, Matrix Audio's first Class A preamplifier, exemplifies this ethos. Its industrial design emphasizes simplicity, featuring an array of hundreds of circular perforations of varying sizes and depths on a simple hexahedron, evoking the rhythm of dancing beats. A Warm and Mellow Audio System The preamplifier serves as the commander of the audio system, delivering precise instructions to optimize the performance of the audio source and power amplifier. The MP-1 is a crucial link in this chain, processing input music with accuracy and infusing it with rich tones and textures. It enables you to hear the nuances, see the intricacies, and feel the soul of the music. Essentially, it is the sculptor of your auditory experience. The fully differential transistor input stage circuit design ensures extremely low noise and excellent linearity. The output stage features a high-bias current pure Class A output, eliminating crossover distortion. Operating under a low-noise power supply of up to 60V, it achieves an extraordinary dynamic range. The output DC servo circuit maintains the output midpoint offset within 1mV, avoiding coupling capacitors to ensure a flatter frequency response, preserving the original sound in its purest form. Four Independent Amp Units Multiple Analog Inputs The main amplifier of the MP-1 comprises four independent, fully balanced amplification units. Each channel features two amplification units working in tandem, amplifying both the in-phase and inverted signals. Even in RCA input mode, the signal is converted into a bipolar signal for amplification, effectively suppressing common-mode noise and enhancing dynamic performance. The MP-1 features 3 pairs of RCA inputs and 3 pairs of XLR inputs, each with independently adjustable level attenuation and compensation. This design ensures consistent amplitude across all input signals, eliminating volume differences when switching between different audio sources. Great I/O for Flexible Applications Precision In Detail The MP-1 offers 1 pair of RCA outputs and 2 pairs of XLR outputs, which can function simultaneously or separately. When used separately, each output’s volume can be individually adjusted, allowing for comfortable volume levels when connecting multiple power amplifiers and various speakers. When both XLR outputs are utilized concurrently, up to four power amplifiers can be connected to drive the mid-high and low-range drivers of the speakers separately, enabling a bi-amping mode. The MP-1 utilizes a voltage-divider volume control system made from a resistor array. It incorporates four high-quality volume control units, each comprising 64 precision resistors with 0.001 accuracy and 32 fully sealed reed relays, rapidly switched by the MCU. This method minimizes any impact on sound quality and ensures excellent consistency between the two channels. Additionally, the operation noise of the reed relays is almost inaudible, even during continuous volume adjustments. Square Copper Wire Transformer and Linear Power Power is the foundation of any audio device, and even a preamplifier needs sufficient power reserves. The MP-1 is equipped with two 60W high-power square copper wire toroidal transformers, which independently power the volume control units of the left and right channels as well as the main amplification unit. This design achieves true independent dual-channel operation from the source. Square copper wire, compared to traditional toroidal transformers with circular cross-section wire, offers a larger conductor surface, higher current capacity, and lower resistance, resulting in better transient response and richer low frequencies. Paired with MUNDORF's M-Lytic AG series filter capacitors, it delivers a silky smooth and mellow sound. H-Shaped Chassis Structure The H-shaped structure is a distinctive design developed by Matrix Audio for the M series products, resulting from two years of continuous optimization and refinement across mechanics, circuit layout, and exterior appearance. A 20mm CNC aluminum plate serves as the support structure for the entire device after undergoing numerous procedures, acting as the core of the H-shaped structure. All components are mounted on this aluminum plate, with the entire weight supported by heavy-duty feet attached to the main beam, ensuring solidity and stability. Once the panels are installed, the main beam creates multiple isolated cavities. Different circuit modules are precisely placed within these cavities, effectively reducing interference between them. The circuit modules for the left and right channels are symmetrically arranged on both sides, providing a balanced visual impression. Crafted with precision and artistry, our product embodies the essence of the Matrix Design language, derived from meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of its construction. Each component undergoes intricate CNC machining and surface treatments, resulting in an exquisite matte texture that exudes elegance and sophistication. The seamless integration of dots, lines, and surfaces reflects our commitment to unparalleled craftsmanship, ensuring a unique and refined user experience that captivates the senses. Warm and Delicate Sound The MP-1 preamplifier envelops listeners in a warm, nuanced sound, blending powerful lows with crisp highs for an immersive listening experience across genres. From chamber music to symphony orchestras, the MP-1 delivers flawless audio reproduction, reflecting our commitment to excellence. Every element of the M series epitomizes our dedication to perfection, meticulously crafted through relentless refinement and precise calibration. With each note, sight, and touch, Matrix Audio presents a culmination of our unwavering pursuit of beauty and captivating sound.
