Motorola PMLN8681A Volume Knob Kit for Mag One X

Genuine Replacement Volume Control Knob Restore precise audio adjustment and reliable on-off control on your portable fleet radios. The Motorola PMLN8681A is a genuine original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacement volume control wheel engineered to restore factory-standard audio management. Integrating the Motorola PMLN8681A volume knob kit into your repair workflow allows maintenance coordinators to fix cracked, loose, or stripped control dials directly on your handheld fleet. Molded from an impact-resistant, high-grip black polymer compound, this essential maintenance component ensures smooth and accurate rotational volume adjustments and steady clicking mechanics for power cycles. The Motorola PMLN8681A is the updated version of the Motorola PMLN8681. Over extended field deployments, high-tier radios endure constant manual turning, bumping, and operational friction that can stretch or strip the internal mounting sleeve. A broken or completely missing volume knob severely impacts workforce productivity by preventing operators from adjusting speaker output or turning their transceivers off to conserve battery. This friction-fit replacement dial slides tightly onto the native internal potentiometer D-shaft stem, sealing delicate core electronic components away from workplace dust, grease, and moisture ingress. Key Features & Benefits OEM Rotational Precision: Engineered to match exact factory mechanical dimensions, eliminating rotational play, loose spinning, or dead zones during audio adjustment. Textured High-Grip Outer Ribs: Crafted with precise vertical grooves to ensure effortless, smooth operational volume tuning even when wearing bulky industrial work gloves. Environmental Sealing Defense: Seals snugly over the top panel bezel to protect critical interior electrical traces from windblown dust, grit, and liquid drops. Instant Toolless Snapping: Built with a direct push-on friction interface that allows fast swap-outs right in the field without disassembling the main radio casing. Clear Tactile On-Off Feedback: Restores the crisp mechanical snap feel required to verify that the portable transceiver has been successfully turned off between work shifts. More Resources DIY Repair and Maintenance Tips for Two-Way Radios Features To Inspect When Purchasing Used Radio Equipment Frequently Asked Questions Does this replacement option include the underlying internal motherboard switch? No, this product contains the external molded plastic control dial only. It is an exterior cosmetic and mechanical overlay designed to fit onto the pre-existing metal half-round rotary shaft. Can this item be utilized to replace a missing channel selection wheel? No, this specific part is modeled strictly to fit the lower-profile height, physical diameter, and internal groove layout of the volume control post. Channel selector wheels use distinct dimensions. What is the proper procedure for mounting this volume knob? The installation process is fully toolless. Clear out any dirt or debris from the exposed metal D-shaft stem on top of your radio, line up the flat internal sleeve edge of the knob, and press straight down firmly. Why is replacing a loose or missing volume wheel critical? A missing or stripped wheel makes it incredibly difficult to safely spin the internal metal stem, meaning your operators could easily be stuck with zero audio or unable to turn the unit off to avoid dead batteries. Does this part use a set-screw to clamp onto the rotary metal pin? No, this genuine OEM part features a specialized high-tension internal friction socket that clamps tightly over the flat section of the D-shaft stem, avoiding small screws that rattle out over time. What type of factory coverage covers this component? This authentic original equipment manufacturer part includes standard category warranty backing that protects against material defects and structural failures during regular active service.   Warranty 1-year manufacturer’s warranty.
