Baby calves rely solely on their mother's milk for the first six months of their life. Even after they learn to eat solid foods, they still nurse for several years. The bond between calf and mother is a special one. Here, ex-orphan Kinna is nursing her baby Kaia. Kinna was rescued in the fall of 1999. Found stuck in the mud she was only a week old. Since then she has joined the wild herds in Ithumba’s Tsavo East National Park and has a wild-born baby of her own. The work of SWT has a ripple effect through generations.
