The History: Created by Toxey Haas, Mossy Oak is one of only two true giants in American sporting camo. Unlike other options in the 1980s, Toxey decided to work with a professional artist from the start, a decision that likely played a huge part in the early success of their hand-drawn patterns. Since the beginning, years of hunting experience have always defined the brand's design philosophy: to provide season-specific patterns for serious sportsmen. Early designs would typically start out as "bottom land" camo with simple cut-outs of forest objects adhered to the clothes. A simple approach, this methodology led to iconic designs such as "full-foliage" and "tree stand." Needless to say, this photorealistic approach, for the time, set the brand apart from Trebark's more abstract and limited patterns. Fast forward to today, and the brand's dominance has continued into the digital age, no doubt thanks to its ever-evolving variety of specialized camos, purpose-built for every season since 1986.
