Moss Agate & Opal Drop Earrings in Sterling Silver

A 5×7mm oval of natural moss agate hangs from a pavé-set leverback, crowned by three small stones — a marquise of moss agate, a round white opal and a pear-cut simulated diamond. Solid 925 sterling silver with a rhodium finish. Because the moss agate is genuine stone, no two pairs share the same pattern. Not painted, not dyed, not printed. Even Left and Right Differ The two earrings in a pair are cut from different pieces of rough, so one may read denser and greener than the other. That is the nature of the material. What Doesn't Change The silver, the setting, the stone sizes and the leverback are identical on every pair. Only the pattern inside the agate varies. What Moss Agate Is Moss agate is not actually agate in the banded sense — it is translucent chalcedony with green mineral inclusions that spread through the stone like lichen, moss or tiny winter trees. It has been called the gardener's stone for centuries, and in crystal traditions it is tied to growth, grounding and new beginnings. Our guide to moss agate meaning covers the symbolism, and is moss agate durable answers the everyday-wear question honestly. At 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale it is a genuinely wearable stone — softer than sapphire, harder than opal, and perfectly suited to earrings, which take far less abuse than a ring. The Accent Stones Three small stones sit above each oval, angled like a sprig: a marquise-cut moss agate that reads as a leaf, a round white opal that catches blue and green flashes as you move, and a pear-cut simulated diamond. The leverback itself is pavé-set with a line of small round simulated diamonds, so the sparkle carries all the way up to the ear. We label these plainly: the moss agate is natural and untreated, and the clear stones are cubic zirconia, not diamond and not moissanite. Our guide to moissanite versus cubic zirconia explains the difference if you want it. The Leverback A leverback hinges closed behind the ear and clicks shut, which makes it the most secure of the common earring closures — far harder to lose than a butterfly back. It also sits the drop slightly forward, so the moss agate faces out rather than turning sideways. Metal Solid 925 sterling silver with a rhodium finish — the same platinum-group metal used on white gold. The rhodium keeps the surface bright white, resists tarnish, and is nickel-free, so these are safe for sensitive ears. It is genuine natural moss agate — translucent chalcedony with green mineral inclusions — never dyed, never enhanced. The green patterns formed in the ground. Will my pair look exactly like the photo? No. Every stone is different, so the density and placement of the green inclusions will vary. Some pairs read almost forest-dark, others soft and misty. The setting and sizes are identical on every pair. Will the two earrings match each other? They are cut to the same size and set identically, but the moss patterns inside them will differ. Most people find that part of the appeal — it is how natural stone behaves. What are the accent stones?A marquise-cut moss agate and a round white opal for the color, plus pear and round cubic zirconia for sparkle, including the pavé on the leverback. The clear stones are cubic zirconia — not diamond, not moissanite. What is the ring made of — is it real silver?Solid 925 sterling silver throughout, hallmarked, with a rhodium finish. No brass or base metal. Are they safe for sensitive ears?Yes. Sterling silver with a rhodium finish is nickel-free and hypoallergenic. How secure is a leverback?Very. The hinge clicks shut behind the ear, so unlike a push-back stud there is nothing to slide off during the day. How long is the drop?Compact — the oval hangs just below the earlobe. These read as an everyday earring rather than a statement drop. Can I wear them every day?Yes, with normal care. Moss agate at 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale handles daily wear well. Take them off for swimming, showering and the gym. Will the silver tarnish? The rhodium finish acts as a barrier, so it resists the darkening untreated sterling develops. After years of wear the finish can thin — we can refinish them when it does. Is there a matching necklace?Yes. The same moss agate, opal and cubic zirconia composition is available as a cluster necklace in sterling silver and in 14K rose gold vermeil. How do they arrive?Ready to ship, in a free luxury velvet jewelry box.
