Description Mondim from Retrosaria Rosa Pomar is a non-superwash fingering weight yarn made from fine Portuguese wool. It is named after a Portuguese village once famous for its sock knitting cottage industry. Most batches of Mondim are exclusively made from the wool of native Campaniça sheep. Mondim works well with any fingering weight sock pattern, as well as for other garments that call for fingering weight wool.   Grown, scoured, milled and dyed in Portugal. All of their yarns are minimally processed. The wool is sustainably grown, scoured, milled, and dyed in Portugal. None of their yarns are superwash or bleached. Mulesing is not practiced in Portugal.  Rosa Pomar, founder of Retrosaria, studied History at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Visual Arts at Ar.Co – Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual, also in Lisbon. Her work as a researcher and author focuses on traditional Portuguese textile practices, historical knitting techniques and the material culture of wool.
