It went on to pioneer spiral-bound notebooks in Japan after importing binding machinery from Europe, and kept innovating from there — including Japan's first plastic binder in 1967. Mnemosyne, named for the Greek goddess of memory, is Maruman's premium notebook line: a favorite among designers and other creative professionals for its silky, minimal-bleed paper, sturdy binding, and understated black cover that's become a design icon in its own right.
