Cod Liver

About This Tin Straight from Iceland's pristine Westfjord region comes a delicacy that's been delighting in-the-know food enthusiasts for generations. These wild cod livers are harvested from sustainably caught fish and expertly preserved in their own natural oils at a local cannery in Isafjordur, creating a rich, buttery experience that's earned its nickname as "poor man's foie gras." In the time-honored tradition of nose-to-tail eating, these tender liver pieces represent both culinary wisdom and sustainable practices. While the cod fillets make their way to fresh fish markets, the livers are carefully sectioned, lightly salted, and preserved through a process that allows their natural oils to create the perfect preservation medium, resulting in a tin packed with not just flavor, but also essential omega-3s and abundant Vitamins A and D.
