Rely on Proven Winner® Color Choice® Invincibelle Mini Mauvette® Hydrangea (Hydrangea arborescens 'NCHA7' PP30358) This petite shrub produces the same huge, round flowers as does the beloved white-flowered Annabelle. It brings flower power from summer to first frost, no matter what your soil pH might be. But...Mini Mauvette kicks it up a notch with gorgeous, deep mauve coloration. You'll adore the lively shade that blends rich purple with spicy, girly pink. This shrub is a robust rebloomer, so you will have armfuls of blooms for your garden and vases. It will happily pump out flowers for you reliably year after year, even up to chilly zone 3! Those show-stopping flowers are borne on extra-thick stems that don't flop. And great news! Deadheading isn't necessary. But we bet you'll be out there anyway, trimming blooms to include in special bouquets for yourself and to gift loved ones. Consider drying some of the bountiful blooms to use as winter decorations. The color remains rich, lovely and very memorable. Mini Mauvette is a little garden gem that flowers on new wood. Experienced plantsmen call this a "one and done" since it only requires a single springtime pruning. Don't worry! Mini Mauvette is very forgiving of newbie mistakes. It reliably blooms armloads of lush, full, brilliant purple-pink flowers every year. These plants are field-tested for years by the Proven Winners® team. Best of all? Its naturally dwarf habit means it will fit into just about any garden no matter what the size. Grow in pots or in the ground for a delightfully colorful addition to your yard this season. Use Invincibelle® Mini Mauvette Smooth Hydrangea in the Landscape Have you ever heard the phrase "Tiny, but Mighty"? Well, that old phrase could have been written about these special, floriferous shrubs. This cultivar of a native North American plant delivers high impact, but doesn't require any extra care. It stays compact and can be used almost anywhere. Try them in outdoor containers to decorate your balcony, entryway, patio or deck. Add them as "Thrillers" to a pair of exterior containers on either side of your front door. Contrast the bloom hue with bold indigo blue, bright yellow or neutral khaki-colored pots. Or stick with sophisticated slate gray or even dark green to match the foliage. You'll find a million ways to style them. Just don't be surprised if you start to consider them a "plant pet"! These cheerful flowers on their strong stems look fantastic when massed into a curving line. Because of its diminutive height, use Mini Mauvette along the edge of a mixed shrub border. Create a low hedge for a long-running "ribbon" of color. Space them 3 feet apart on center, measuring from the center of one to the center of the next. It's sure to become the star of your late summer cutting or flower gardens. Partner with Coneflowers, Rudbeckia, Hardy Geranium and other Hydrangeas in a mixed border. Perhaps you've heard of a Moon Garden? This design features many shades of white-blooming plants and simply glows in the moonlight. Well...why not create a Purple Garden as a decidedly modern take? It will look lavish all day long. Pair with the bold Black Diamond® Purely Purple® Crape Myrtle, or the mysterious iced tones of Arctic Blue Rose, Blue Girl Rose and layer in fragrant Ebb Tide Rose. You'll be awash in blossoms, and you deserve it! Enjoy months of flowers in the landscape and in cut flower arrangements. #ProPlantTips for Care Like all the Proven Winners plants, Invincibelle Mini Mauvette Hydrangea has been field tested for years. It's super hardy and very easy to maintain in the landscape. Plant yours in a spot that receives at least 4 hours of direct sunlight a day. In warm climates, afternoon shade is appreciated! Anything less than 4 hours of full sun or part sun will compromise the flower production and result in thinner stems. Give them enough sun and they'll thrill you with their great performance. Apply a moderate amount of water on a regular basis, unless you have a good rain shower. This is especially true if you grow Mini Mauvette in containers. Please give them a good drink in fall as you head into winter time. Apply mulch over the root system to cut down on surface evaporation and save a bit on your water bill. Pull the mulch back away from the stems for good air circulation. Include a package of Nature Hills Root Booster to use during planting. Follow the directions on the label, and you'll give your plant support over its entire life span. There is nothing better for your plants! We recommend that you keep the last blooms of the season on the shrub all winter long. You'll love the way the spent flowers catch and sculpt light snowfall for welcome winter interest. Plant in well-drained soil. Elevate your planting with a raised bed, or plant in containers if you have poorly drained soil. This variety has minimal pruning requirements. Mini Mauvette blooms on new wood, so each year, you'll start over again with fresh growth from the crown of the plant. In early spring, watch as new growth begins to emerge on the sturdy stems. At that point prune each stem down by a third, cutting at a 45-degree angle just above an outward-facing bud. Bundle up last year's growth and compost or place in a yard bag. What could be easier? Add the knockout combination of showy, colorful blooms and "pint-sized" compact habit to your space this season. You'll be so excited to see those pinky-purple flowers all summer and into fall.
