Milk Powder, Non Fat

Non-Fat Milk Powder Non fat milk powder is an amazing ingredient that you will use in cooking and baking more than you might think. Powdered milk is a manufactured dairy product made by evaporating milk to dryness. One purpose of drying milk is to preserve it; milk powder has a far longer shelf life than liquid milk and does not need to be refrigerated, due to its low moisture content. Here’s some history. Back in 1295, explorer Marco Polo reported that the Mongolians boiled milk skimmed off the fat that rose to the top to make butter and dried the remaining milk in the sun to use for food later. Throughout the years, milk powder has proven to last the test of time and is a pantry staple. It is also very convenient to use and does not change the flavor of any recipe. Simply add water to our low-fat organic milk powder and enjoy as a beverage or add a spoonful to coffee as a sweet creamer.   Powdered milk is frequently used in the manufacture of infant formula, confectionery such as chocolate and caramel candy, and in recipes for baked goods where adding liquid milk would render the product too thin. Many no-cook recipes that use nut butters use powdered milk to prevent the nut butter from turning liquid by absorbing the oil. Just like milk, low-fat organic milk powder is full of nutrition and a great source of essential vitamins and minerals. It’s important to note that all the nutritional benefits remain during the evaporation process. Milk is best known for its calcium content but also has good for you Vitamins A, D, E, K,  magnesium, potassium, and zinc. It also contains essential immune system building antioxidants and amino acids that are necessary for a healthy circulatory system, balanced nervous system, strong bone health, and healthy teeth.
