MIJIN-KARAKUSA PATTERN NAMASU PLATE

Description Everyday charm from old Japan — this vintage namasu plate, likely Arita ware from the late Meiji to early Taisho period, features a fine mijin-karakusa (tiny arabesque) vine pattern, hand-painted in deep indigo. Originating from Japan’s rich porcelain tradition, it reflects the simple beauty of daily life and a quiet sense of nostalgia. With its practical depth and comfortable size, this plate is ideal for small dishes, fruit, or sweets — even for serving snacks or pickles at tea time. The softly aged glaze and hand-painted details lend each piece a gentle, lived-in warmth that feels right at home on today’s tables. * Each piece shows slight variations in the pattern. Some natural crazing and a small firing crack on the underside (see photo 8) are typical of antique porcelain. We hope the photos give you a sense of each piece’s unique character.
