Midwest Controls MD Series Motorized Ball Valve Automatic Condensate Drain

Midwest Controls MD Series Motorized Ball Valve Automatic Condensate Drain Reliable Automatic Condensate Drainage Without Clogging The Midwest Controls MD Series Motorized Ball Valve is an industrial-grade automatic condensate drain designed for compressed air systems where dependable moisture removal is critical. Unlike traditional solenoid drains that rely on small orifices prone to plugging, the MD Series uses a full-port forged brass motorized ball valve to deliver unrestricted condensate discharge with outstanding reliability. Its microprocessor-based controller allows users to fully customize drain intervals and discharge durations, reducing unnecessary compressed air loss while ensuring moisture is removed efficiently from compressors, air receivers, dryers, filters, moisture separators, and other condensate collection points. With a rugged IP65/NEMA 4-rated enclosure, automatic power-loss protection, and over 200,000 tested operating cycles, the MD Series is built for years of dependable service in demanding industrial environments. Key Features Available in 1/2", 3/4", and 1" FNPT valve sizes Rated for operating pressures up to 600 PSI Full-port forged brass motorized ball valve Non-clogging design for dirty condensate applications Microprocessor controller with 10 programmable operating cycles Adjustable interval timing from 1 second to 999 hours Adjustable discharge timing from 1 second to 999 hours ABS fire-resistant watertight housing Manual test switch for easy operation LED status indicators Mounts in virtually any position Automatically closes valve during power interruption UL Approved IP65 / NEMA 4 environmental protection Tested for over 200,000 operating cycles Includes 6-foot power cord compatible with 115V or 230V Operating temperature: 34°F to 131°F (1°C to 55°C) Installation manual included Backed by a 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty Ideal Applications The Midwest Controls MD Series is ideal for: Air compressor receiver tanks Refrigerated air dryers Desiccant dryers Coalescing filters Moisture separators Drip legs Compressed air piping systems Manufacturing plants Automotive repair facilities CNC machining centers Woodworking shops Industrial process equipment Why Choose a Motorized Ball Valve Drain? Traditional solenoid drains often become clogged by rust, scale, compressor oil, and debris, leading to flooded air systems or expensive air leaks. The Midwest Controls MD Series eliminates this problem by utilizing a full-port motorized ball valve that opens completely during each drain cycle. Benefits Include Greatly reduces clogging Lower maintenance costs Longer operating life Reliable condensate removal Programmable operation minimizes compressed air loss Suitable for dirty condensate applications Technical Specifications Specification Value Product Series Midwest Controls MD Series Valve Type Motorized Ball Valve Connection Sizes 1/2", 3/4", 1" FNPT Maximum Pressure 600 PSI Valve Material Forged Brass Housing ABS Fire Resistant Protection Rating IP65 / NEMA 4 Operating Cycles 10 Programmable Programs Interval Time 1 Second to 999 Hours Discharge Time 1 Second to 999 Hours Manual Test Yes Status Indicators LED Electrical 115V / 230V Power Cord 6 Feet Operating Temperature 34°F to 131°F Cycle Life 200,000+ Cycles Certifications UL Approved Warranty 1 Year Available Models Model Connection Size Weight MD-50BV 1/2" FNPT 1.5 lbs MD-75BV 3/4" FNPT 1.7 lbs MD-100BV 1" FNPT 2.2 lbs Frequently Asked Questions What makes a motorized ball valve better than a solenoid drain? A full-port motorized ball valve is far less susceptible to clogging because it opens completely during each drain cycle, allowing debris and oily condensate to pass freely. Can this be used on any compressed air system? Yes. The MD Series is designed for compressors, air receivers, dryers, filters, separators, drip legs, and virtually any condensate collection point. How much can I adjust the drain timing? Both the interval and discharge duration are fully programmable from 1 second up to 999 hours. What pressure is the valve rated for? The MD Series is rated for operating pressures up to 600 PSI. Does it work with both 115V and 230V? Yes. The included power cord is compatible with both 115V and 230V power supplies. What happens if power is lost? The valve automatically closes during a power outage to protect the compressed air system. Can the valve be mounted horizontally or vertically? Yes. The compact design allows installation in virtually any mounting position. Is it weather resistant? Yes. The enclosure is rated IP65 / NEMA 4, protecting the electronics from dust and water. Does opening the controller housing affect the warranty? Yes. Opening the housing breaks the IP65 seal and voids the manufacturer's warranty. How long is the warranty? The Midwest Controls MD Series is backed by a 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty. Why Buy from Compressed Air Advisors Online?
