This versatile tone bridges the gap between bare metal and painted surfaces, making it ideal for both mechanical and structural components exposed to wear and weather. Dark Steel Gray is in our set Item #29444 U.S. Army Armor & Infantry WWI to Vietnam, Item #29477 USAAF Pacific, and the Item #29503 US Military Acrylic Paint Set, 81 pieces. Color Description: Dark Steel Gray is a dull metallic-like neutral with hints of olive, capturing the appearance of worn steel that has been dulled by grease, grime, and repeated use in the field. The slight green cast allows it to harmonize with Olive Drab and other earth tones common to U.S. military hardware. It’s especially useful for hand-painted detailing that simulates unpainted steel components on vehicles, weaponry, and support structures. This color was commonly seen on military hardware from World War II through Vietnam. •    In WWII, it was used for gun barrels, tank tracks, tools, and interior metal panels •    In Korea, it appeared on small arms, support weapons, and chassis components •    In Vietnam, it was used for weapon parts, radio casings, and exposed vehicle elements like hatches and hinge Modeling Uses: •    Paint tank barrels, machine guns, ammo boxes, jerry cans, and shovels •    Excellent for tool heads, radio housings, tow hooks, and frame supports •    Works as a base for metallic weathering—drybrush with silver or wash with black for aged effect •    Combine with Gunmetal, Engine Black, or Silver Feather to create gradients of wear
