MFC Spawning Shrimp

The MFC Spawning Shrimp is a proven saltwater shrimp pattern built to trigger aggressive eats from fish keyed in on natural movement and subtle presentation. Designed to imitate spawning shrimp carrying an egg mass, this fly features a hot-spot profile and flowing materials that stay active on both the strip and the pause. The combination of lifelike legs, translucent body, and balanced weight allows it to land soft, sink naturally, and stay in the strike zone without spooking fish. This pattern excels in situations where fish are feeding selectively on shrimp and require a more realistic, less aggressive presentation. Whether you're targeting shallow flats species or working slightly deeper water with current, the Spawning Shrimp adapts to a wide range of conditions without overcomplicating your fly selection. Widely recognized as a versatile shrimp imitation, this style of fly is effective across multiple species and environments, making it a staple in any serious saltwater box Sizes and Colors Available Sizes • #4 • #6 Colors • Olive • Orange • White • Tan Where It Excels • Shallow flats and sand pockets • Grass edges and transition zones • Clear water and pressured fish • Situations where fish are keyed in on shrimp Target Species • Bonefish • Redfish • Permit • Snook • Other inshore saltwater predators Bonefish and other flats species primarily feed on shrimp and small crustaceans, making patterns like this a foundational choice for consistent success Why It Produces • Spawning profile with hot spot triggers reaction strikes • Natural materials create lifelike movement • Balanced weight for controlled sink and presentation • Subtle landing prevents spooking fish • Versatile across multiple flats species and conditions
