Collings MF Gloss Top

The Collings MF is a sophisticated mandolin. Its F-style body shape and simple, refined stylings may be familiar in the mandolin world, but what makes the MF special is Collings' unmatched attention to detail. Constructed of the finest materials available and built with 21st-Century precision, the Collings MF is a serious instrument for serious players. The Collings MF starts with a fully-carved Adirondack Spruce top. Each specific mandolin top is hand-selected for the right rigidity and density, and Adirondack Spruce is a great choice because it provides excellent clarity and focus with lots of projection and headroom. The top is then hand-carved to its own unique thickness, which maximizes the tonal potential of the instrument. For back and sides, only Eastern Flamed Maple will do. The overall precision of the build—particularly the delicate, graceful curves of the scroll—are on a level only achieved by Collings. This Collings MF (serial # F2382) features a Gloss Top finish with Ivoroid Binding around the top. We love the subtle hues of a Collings sunburst, and the high-gloss finish makes the color fade and subtle contours pop. As the finish gets to its darkest, the contrasting lighter Ivoroid stands out. The result is a  high-end mandolin that catches your eye without being over-the-top. When executed on the level of Collings, simple details elicit timeless elegance.  Body Style: F Top: Hand-Carved Adirondack Spruce Back/Sides/Neck: Eastern Flamed Maple Soundhole: F-holes Body Binding: Ivoroid Top Binding Bracing: Traditional Tone Bars Bridge: Ebony w/ Adjustable Ebony Saddle Saddle Spacing: 1-9/16" Fingerboard: Ebony w/ Mother-of-Pearl dots Nut: Bone, 1-1/8" Neck Profile: Rounded V Neck Joint: Dovetail Scale Length: 13-7/8" Fingerboard Radius: Compound 5-1/2" - 11-5/8" Top Finish: High Gloss Nitrocellulose Lacquer Body Finish: Satin Nitrocellulose Lacquer Tailpiece: Cast Collings original tailpiece Case: Deluxe TKL Hardshell This Collings MF produces powerful, rich tone and cutting mandolin chop.
