Meze 109 Pro Dynamic Open-Back Headphones

Introducing Meze Audio's first dynamic open-back headphones, a demonstration of their commitment to go beyond the faithful reproduction of sound to deliver pure emotion.   Our Take "At the core of it all, music is an expression of emotion, a celebration of life and a token of everlasting memories. Every part of the 109 PRO, from the premium materials we used to the intricate engineering, embodies that same emotion our favorite music makes us feel." Antonio Meze, Lead Designer and Founder of Meze Audio Our Take This outstanding open-back headphone blends a sophisticated, classy design with exceptional comfort and breathtaking sound quality. Built of sturdy lightweight materials, the 109 is perfectly suited for use at home or on the go. Pair it with our GS-X mini amplifier and the Chord Qutest DAC for an incredible home audio system. An Exploration of New Horizons Starts with the basics. The diaphragm is the heart of any headphone, producing the waves our brains ultimately perceive as sound. To meet the acoustic goals set for the 109 PRO, Meze focused its R&D efforts on materials research, looking for the perfect balance between mass and stiffness that would maximize the sonic abilities of the headphone. That search led to the development of the 109 series Dual-Composite Diaphragm – a combination of Beryllium-coated polymer, cellulose-carbon fiber composite, and copper-zinc alloy. This brand new 50mm dynamic driver, assembled and tuned with ultimate precision, allowed us to push the boundaries of speed, accuracy, and dynamic range. A carbon fiber headband with a genuine leather headrest has been integrated into the frame for an ultra-light feel and maximum durability. Raw materials for various aspects of the build were all chosen not just for the exciting sensory experience their raw texture provides but also for comfort and durability. Superior Build & Acoustic Design Through its open-back design, Meze wanted the 109 PRO to be vivid and exciting, empowering the listener to connect with music on a deeper level. Carefully tuned by their in-house engineering team, it offers emotionally engaging sound with great detail, clarity, and just the right amount of punch. Its organic character, superior dynamics, excellent imaging, and full-bodied vocals bring soul-stirring details to life. Plus, it’s easy to drive from most devices, whether we’re talking portable sources or intricate home setups. 109 Pro's build is all about comfort – from the structural design of the headphone to the choice of materials, all decisions were carefully made to ensure the final product rises to the highest standard in terms of ergonomics. A combination of walnut wood, zinc, manganese steel, and vegan leather in a comfortable, lightweight, yet highly durable structure is utilized to help 109 Pro simply disappear on your head! Once placed on your head, the headphones become unnoticeable, leaving you with nothing but the music. Sustainability Through Longevivity The 109 PRO is crafted with utmost care for sustainability. Our choices today can significantly impact the world of tomorrow; thus, Meze Audio continues to design products that last. They believe that a longer product lifespan means a smaller footprint. Following this philosophy, the 109 PRO can be taken apart and serviced endlessly if needed, extending the product's life beyond limit. The black walnut wood used for their headphones comes strictly from sources with a certificate of origin, harvested from mature trees that have reached the end of their life cycle. This way, the environment is being protected, leaving room for new life, while the old trees are shining once again, in the shape of a Meze headphone.
