Folate is required for numerous critical functions of the brain and nervous system. It is essential for DNA/RNA synthesis, maintaining healthy homocysteine levels, and for proper fetal development during pregnancy.  Folic acid is a synthetic form of folate. It can only be used by the body after it has been converted to active folate by an enzyme called methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR)13. Who is affected by MTHFR mutations? The MTHFR mutation is much more common than many people realize (it’s estimated around 50% of the global population have at least 1 of 2 common variants).  Approximately 25% of the global population are carriers of the MTHFR mutation C677T, with Hispanics making up the highest proportion (47%), East Asians (30%), South Asians (12%) and Africans (9%).  Another 25% of the global population have the MTHFR mutation A1298C, which is highest in South East Asians (42%) and Europeans (31%). The frequency of the 1298A>C polymorphism in Hispanics and Africans is 15%14.  An increasing number of studies have shown links between those with MTHFR polymorphisms and an increased risk for high levels of homocysteine, depression, and reduced antidepressant effectiveness15.  MTHFR is also linked to elevated homocysteine levels, which can cause serious vascular diseases, dementia, infertility, and other chronic illnesses16. For these people, L-methylfolate supplementation is shown to be the most effective way to provide this form of folate10.  Methyl-Life’s® Methylfolate is an active form of folate that can bypass the MTHFR mutation. It is already in its metabolized form, which means it can be readily absorbed and utilized in the body for many biochemical reactions. Why Magnafolate® PRO? Methyl-Life’s® Methylfolate 15 mg is made with the internationally-patented Magnafolate® PRO, clinically tested as the world’s purest methylfolate (Magnafolate® PRO is shown to have significantly greater purity, stability and potency when compared to competing brands Quatrefolic® and Extrafolate®). Magnafolate® is made with a form of methylfolate called L-5-MTHF-Ca, which is shown to be the most active form of folate in the plasma circulation. When compared with ordinary folate, L-methylfolate was found to be absorbed faster and utilized more quickly in the body17. A recent study found that L-5-MTHF-Ca significantly boosted immune function over just five weeks of supplementation18.   ______________________________________ 1 https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20608755/ 2https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3402301/ 3https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7687916/ 4https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7779227/ 5https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/hq0102.102190 6https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7019735/ 7https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5867258/ 8https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8127769/ 9https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9832224/ 10https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23212058/ 11https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7564482/ 12https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0264/6369/9018/files/Methyl-Life_60-day_Methylfolate_Comparison.pdf?v=1595292111 13https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK6561/ 14https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6530664/ 15https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6630484/ 16https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/01.CIR.0000165142.37711.E7 17https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24032278/ 18https://i.trade-cloud.com.cn/upload/6405/file/20210929/english-version-magnafolate-enhancing-immunity_524485.pdf Dosage WARNING – How much is right for you to take? Talk to your doctor about what’s best for you. Before you purchase check out our dosage information to learn more about what some doctors recommend. And review our suggested methylation protocol as a potential step by step guide to some dosing options. How to snap the tablet in half – See how its done via video. First find the half hash line and face it away from yourself (with the back of the tablet facing your chest/stomach), then put both of your thumbs next to each other along the line (as if there were one on the back of the tablet). You want the half hash line facing away from you (not on the side of the tablet where your thumbs are). And then you should be able to break it in half along that line every time by simply applying pressure to snap it outwards, by pushing your thumbs away from you. This approach works far better than using a pill cutter, which seems to cause the tablet to crumble much more.   Video SUPPLEMENT FACTS SUGGESTED USE: Consult with your healthcare practitioner before using this product. Basically, yes. In the chemistry world, L stands for the “Left” isomer, which is the same as the “(6S)” isomer – the terms are synonyms (and this naming convention is used interchangeably by various companies in the industry). In the case of methylfolate, that L or (6S) isomer is the active isomer of 5-MTHF that the body can actually use. To learn more about the different types of methylfolate, its history, potency levels and stability details, and to see how our L-Methylfolate proves to be the purest on the planet, visit our Methylfolate Types page. How can Methylfolate 15 mg help with MTHFR mutations? Methylfolate 15 mg can be beneficial for individuals with MTHFR mutations because it provides a form of folate that is already methylated, bypassing the need for the MTHFR enzyme to convert it. This supports methylation processes in the body, which may be impaired in individuals with MTHFR mutations, and helps maintain optimal folate levels necessary for various biochemical reactions. It's important to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice on supplementation and managing MTHFR mutation. How long does it take to experience the benefits of Methylfolate 15 mg? Individual responses may vary, but some users report noticing improvements in energy levels and overall well-being over just five weeks of starting Methylfolate 15 mg supplementation.
